Sholay is an Indian "Curry Western" film directed by Ramesh Sippy. It is the biggest hit in the history of Bollywood, India's Hindi film industry. Released on August 15, 1975, it stars Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Jaya Bhaduri and Amjad Khan. The movie, shot in the rocky terrain of Ramanagara(actual village in Karnataka),is the story of two hired hands, trying to capture a ruthless dacoit by the name of Gabbar Singh.
Sholay is the highest grossing film of all time in Indian cinema. It has earned Rs. 768,81,00,000, equivalent to US$ 160 million, after adjusting for inflation. When first released, the film was declared a commercial disaster. Word of mouth convinced movie-goers to give the film a chance and soon it became a box-office phenomenon. It ran for 286 weeks straight (more than five years) in one Mumbai theatre, the Minerva. Sholay racked up a still record 60 golden jubilees across India and doubled its original gross over reruns during the late 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. Sholay was the first film in the history of Indian cinema to celebrate silver jubilee (25 weeks) at over a hundred theatres across India.

In 1999, BBC India declared it the "Film of the Millennium"; Indiatimes movies ranks the movie amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films. In that same year, the judges of the 50th annual Filmfare awards awarded it with a special award called Filmfare Best Film of 50 Years.

Sunil (Shahrukh Khan) belongs to a middle-class family, and is intent to pursue his career with a music group, despite his dad's (Anjan Srivastav) disapproval. Sunil is also in love with Anna (Suchitra Krishnamoorthy), but Anna does not really love him, and only thinks of him as a friend. Sunil is persistent, but instead Anna openly declares her love for Chris (Deepak Tijori). In order to impress his dad, Sunil forges his examination results, but then later confesses to his family, who receive this news in utter dismay. Due to Chris's parents disapproval Anna and Chris's engagement does not happen and she agrees to marry Sunil. But then Sunil discovers she still loves Chris.

Don
Don (Amitabh Bachchan) is the leader of an underworld gang until Police Officer D'Silva (Iftekhar) tracks him down and in an attempt to catch him ends up killing him. But Don's death is only known to D'Silva. So Officer D'Silva tracks down a lookalike of Don named Vijay. Vijay impersonates Don to take down the rest of Don's gang while the DSP promises him that he will give a proper education to his wards who are actually the children of Jasjit (Pran).
Meanwhile, Jasjit comes out of prison after serving his jail term, only to find Officer D'Silva having a red diary that would show Vijay's true identity. Officer D'Silva is killed by Malik who is introduced as the Interpol officer, but is in fact the real king of the underworld. It's now a race to retrieve the diary in which the DSP has documented the substitution of the real Don with the innocent Vijay. One famous dialogue of movie is "Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin namumkin hai" (it is not just difficult to catch Don, but it is impossible)

The film is about Anand Sehgal (Rajesh Khanna), a cancer(lymphosarcoma of the intestine) patient who, despite knowing this fact, believes in living his life to the fullest. Contrasting Anand is Bhaskar Banarjee (Amitabh Bachchan), a sober doctor, upset with life and the dark reality of his nation. Bhaskar's tête-a-tête with Anand makes him notice the colours behind all the despair and complexity in one's life and teaches him a lesson. After spreading happiness everywhere around himself and changing the lives of many, Anand as destined, leaves them all, which inspires Bhaskar to write a book on his life.
The film is a narrative, as Bhaskar writes in his diary about his life before Anand, his first meeting, how his relation with him changes from a doctor-patient to a friend, and then to a friend for which he can do anything, and how a dying man leaves his thinking changed to such a great extent .

The film re-tells a popular Indian tale, which was previously filmed as Loves of a Mughal Prince (1928) and Anarkali (1953). It is loosely based on an episode in the life of the Mughal prince Salim, who went on to become the Emperor Jahangir. In the movie, the great conqueror Akbar (played by Prithviraj Kapoor)
and his Rajput wife, Mariam-uz-Zamani (played by Durga Khote) have a son - the weak and pleasure-loving Salim - played by Dilip Kumar. Salim falls in love with Anarkali (Madhubala), a court-dancer. He wants to marry her, but his father objects and throws Anarkali into prison. Despite imprisonment, Anarkali refuses to reject Salim. Salim rebels against his father, is defeated in battle, and is sentenced to death. Anarkali pleads for his life in exchange for her own, and is condemned to be walled up alive. However, it is revealed that Akbar owed a favor to Anarkali's mother, since she informed him of the birth of his son. Anarkali's mother takes advantage of this, and begs for her daughter's life. The emperor relents, and arranges for Anarkali's secret escape into exile. Unfortunately, it is still announced that Anarkali was killed, and Salim is heartbroken.
Most tales of Salim and Anarkali end with the death of the latter, even though the movie version is slightly more optimistic. However, Salim is still left to believe that Anarkali is dead and the lovers are separated for the rest of their lives.

Vibrant and irrepressibly alive, Chand (Preity Zinta) is a young bride leaving her home in Ludhiana, India, for the cavernous landscape of Brampton, Ontario, where her husband Rocky (Vansh Bhardwaj) and his very traditional family await her arrival. Everything is new to Chand everything is unfamiliar including the quiet and shy Rocky who she meets for the first time at the Arrivals level of Pearson Airport. Chand approaches her new life and her new land with equanimity and grace, and at times the wide-eyed optimism of hope-her first snowfall is a tiny miracle of beauty, and the roar of Niagara Falls creates the excitement of new beginnings.
But soon optimism turns to isolation as the family she has inherited struggles beneath the weight of unspoken words, their collective frustration becoming palpable. No one feels the pressure more than Rocky, weighed down by familial obligations. A controlling mother, who can't let him go, a sweet but ineffectual father, and a sister whose two children and unemployed husband are also a burden, all live with Rocky and Chand in a two-bedroom house in the suburbs of Toronto. To make matters worse, Rocky is expected to find the money to bring his extended family to Canada. Unable to express his anger, he finds other ways to release it and it's Chand who bears the brunt of his repressed rage.

Trapped in a world she cannot comprehend and unable to please her husband, Chand is desperate. Hope comes in the form of Rosa (Yanna McIntosh), a tough and savvy Jamaican woman who works alongside Chand in a factory where immigrant women from all over the world clean and press dirty hotel laundry. Rosa sees past the make-up that covers Chand's bruised face. Realizing Chand has nowhere to turn, Rosa gives her a magical root advising her "to put it in whatever the bastard drinks." The root is supposed to seduce the one who takes it, making them fall hopelessly in love with the person who gives it to them. Chand's attempts with the magic root lead to surreal incidents and her life gradually begins to mirror an Indian fable involving a King Cobra. As the lines between fantasy and reality converge, Chand and Rocky come face to face with each other and themselves.

She uses her home-spun common-sense and logic and she carries out her investigation in classic "whodunit" style. Of course, Naani's rather eccentric methods of investigation lead to many quirky and humorous incidents. Her unusual team of deputies comprise of her 2 inquisitive little grandchildren, her divorced daughter and a couple of teenagers.

The search for one lost little girl leads Naani & Co. to a racket where the stakes are high, the criminals are ruthless, and their leader is powerful. Once Naani gets too close to their trail, she endangers herself. She finds herself sharing the same plight as the little girl she had seen in the window. Naani's team of amateur detectives get together and finally win the day with a little help from the CID.At the heart of this story is the terrified, kidnapped little girl. Her plight acts as a reminder to the audience that Naani's mission is a race against time. And yet, this adventure has a positive effect on all the characters that get involved. Bridges are built, relationships blossom, lessons are learnt.

The two squabbling teenagers fall in love, there is a whiff of a romance between Naani's divorced daughter and the dashing CID Inspector. Old Mr. Pal finds a renewed energy and interest in life. And of course, a lost 4-year-old little girl is finally re-united with her mother. This film has all the ingredients of an entertainer - humour, suspense, emotion and a bit of insight. Detective Naani is a film that will leave the audience feeling good.

Arrested by police under suspicion of cheating, Jamal is interrogated by the authorities. And though Jamal makes a convincing case for himself, one question still remains: why would a young man with no apparent desire for wealth or fame be so determined to win big on a national game show? Of course, it won't be long until everyone finds out the answer to this burning question, because as Jamal sits down to find out whether he will be rich beyond his wildest dreams, 60 million viewers remain transfixed to their televisions eager to see if he'll correctly answer the final question.

Synopsis

Golmaal Returns, the much-awaited follow-up to the uproariously comical smash-hit Golmaal, arrives with a renewed star power, chartbusting music and more laughter than ever before!

Gopal (Ajay Devgan), who lives with his wife Ekta (Kareena Kapoor), sister Esha (Amrita Arora) and a dumb brother-in-law Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), gets stuck in a yacht after saving an attractive woman Meera (Celina Jaitley) from some goons.

Both end up spending the night on the yacht and when he comes home the next day, his painfully suspicious wife who is also a hardcore fan of the saas-bahu serials, smell fish.

Gopal knows it's going to be hard to quell her suspicion so he concocts a cock-and-bull story about having stayed the night with a fictitious friend called Anthony Gonsalves. Ekta refuses to buy his yarn and writes to Anthony (on a fictitious address given to her by Gopal) asking him to visit her.

Gopal convinces his junior at work, Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) to pretend to be Anthony. Everything goes according to plan till the address to which Ekta had written to Anthony turns out to be real!

If that isn't complication enough for Gopal, a dead body is discovered at the location where he had saved Meera. The Investigating Officer, Madhav (Arshad Warsi), who is Esha's boyfriend and also who cannot stand the sight of Gopal, learns that the latter had been missing from home that eventful night and begins checking on him.

Madhav's investigation results in hilarious chaos and tricky situations where a new lie must be invented at every instance to conceal the previous lie!

The misadventures of the seven characters result in a non-stop joyride, evoking laughter and culminating in a sweet but surprising climax to the biggest comedy title of 2008.

Mahadev and Lucky are also of the opinion that only idiots work and wise men use them in more ways than one to make their life comfortable.
Among these 4, there is Laxmi, who is a sincere and god-fearing guy and a bright student.
At one point, due to their notorious acts, the dean of their college throws them out of the hostel and they have nowhere to go. Gopal the wittiest and the biggest bully of them all, tells them about a bungalow which is inhabited by an old blind couple, whose son, daughter-in-law and grandson are in America.

Gopal plans to enter the bungalow pretending to be Prashant (the blind couple?s grandson) He also asks the rest of them to move in with him ? the only condition however is that everyone, except for Gopal would always remain silent. This bizarre sequence leads to much confusion throughout the film creating lots of comedy.

Munnabhai (Sanjay Dutt) is a happy man. He lives with his gang in the bylanes of a 'dhobi ghat' in Mumbai; takes pride in being a 'social worker' (they actually settle 'financial disputes' through 'dadagiri'); and enjoys his booze, babes, brawls followed by a good night's sleep. Not much bothers Munna.

Except his parents' annual visit from the village. Munna's father, Hari Prasad Sharma (Sunil Dutt), an upright, moralistic man believes that his son is actually a doctor running a charity hospital. Every year, when his parents arrive, Munna and his gang bathe, shave, don white coats and stethoscopes and pretend to be diligent doctors.

This year, however, the clever charade falls apart. Hari Prasad Sharma runs into an old friend, Dr. Asthana (Boman Irani), who has a daughter called Suman (Gracy Singh). The two decide that their children, both doctors, would make a perfect match. Munna tries hard to save the situation, but his father discovers the truth. And all hell breaks loose.

Hari Prasad Sharma, now broken by the truth, removes his white spotless 'pagadi' and cries. Munnabhai then takes a decision that would change many lives : He decides to become a doctor.

Munnabhai MBBS is a hilarious and heart warming story of a local goon's journey into the medical world - a place he neither belongs to nor believes in. It is a classic story of a right man in a wrong place.

The characterisation of the various artistes is as follows:-

Munna Bhai - Sanjay Dutt
Laughter, they say, is the best medicine. Love, Munnabhai says, works even better. He hugs people, giving them 'jadu ki jhappi'. Naturally then, though he can barely tell a liver from a lung, he is the best doctor in town.

Hari Prasad Sharma - Sunil Dutt
Upright, principled and unfailingly righteous, Hari Prasad Sharma is a throwback to a bygone era. His conscience, like the pagdi on his head, is spotless. Imagine then, the heartbreak, when he discovers that his own son who he believes to be a doctor is a tapori called Munnabhai.

Suman - Gracy Singh
Dr. Suman's calm demeanour goes for a 'full toss' after she encounters Munnabhai. He makes her laugh and cry and teaches her that sometimes a loving hug or the 'jadu ki japhi' works better than all the medicines in the world.

Zaheer - Jimmy Shergill
Zaheer is a young man struggling to fulfil his responsibilities and make his dreams come true. But his fight for a future is abruptly hobbled by cancer. Now all that he seeks is Munnabhai.

Dr Asthana - Boman Irani
Dr Asthana is Hitler with a heart. A strict disciplinarian, he lives life by the rules. But he is also a believer in laughter therapy and in his most stressful moments breaks out into manic laughter. Munnabhai naturally is the deeply imbedded thorn in his side.

The woman who runs the establishment, Madhumati [veteran actress Manorama], exploits the residents by running a prostitution racket. With the help of a transvestite Gulabi [Raghuvir Yadav], she pimps out the widows to the upper class, so that money keeps flowing in to run the ashram.
Narayan [John Abraham], a Gandhian, falls for the beautiful Kalyani [Lisa Ray], a widow in Madhumati?s house. Chuyia [Sarala], an 8-year-old widow and Shakuntala [Seema Biswas], a middle-aged woman are the other residents of the ashram.
Narayan proposes marriage to Kalyani. Kalyani decides to revolt against Madhumati s dominance. Madhumati reasons that they will go to hell if Kalyani re-marries, but Kalyani has already made up her mind. Narayan decides to introduce Kalyani to his parents. But when she spots the house they?re heading towards, she insists they turn the ferry around.

Ghajini

Imagine being one of the most successful businessmen in the country. Sanjay Singhania (Aamir) is a rich businessman who owns a cellular phone company. Kalpana (Asin) is a model who brags to her friends and peers that she is the love interest of Sanjay, though in reality she doesn’t even know the man.

When Sanjay comes to know about this anonymous admirer of his, he decides to dispel her delusions. But on his way he sees a beautiful woman helping the handicapped kids cross the road. Instantly, Sanjay falls for her. Later, he comes to know that she is Kalpana, the same model who boasted of being his girlfriend. 

Sanjay gets introduced to Kalpana but doesn’t disclose his real identity. Love blossoms between the two. 

While on a train ride, Kalpana saves a group of young girls from a rowdy bunch of eve-teasing goons. A few days later, the same group of eve teasers, led by their notorious head (Pradeep Rawat) close in on Kalpana. But Sanjay arrives and fights them. In the ensuing scuffle, Kalpana is killed and Sanjay is hit on his head with an iron rod. 

Though Sanjay is able to survive the injury, he loses his memory. He gets only flashbacks of what really happened and his short memory makes it difficult to remember things he did just minutes back. 

How this man, who can’t even remember the killers of his ladylove, goes about taking his revenge is what the remaining story is about. Jiah Khan plays a medical student who helps Sanjay find the killers.

Synopsis

A brooding artist Prithvi, experiences mysterious & distressing visions about Nandita, a woman he has never met, while he paints on canvas. At first, Nandita refuses to believe him and dismisses him as an eccentric stalker. Haunted by a series of deathly and paranormal experiences, her reason crumbles in the face of fear. 

Now, one of Prithvi's paintings has revealed her as dead! The only way she can change her fate, is to unravel this mystery with his help, at the risk of alienating herself from her boyfriend, Yash, who is a rational and logical man. Jannat is the story of a man caught in a quagmire of crime and consumerism as he struggles to find heaven on earth.
